What is Tim’s Place?
Tim’s Place is a respite ministry designed to provide a place of love and community for people living with all types of memory loss, including Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke, and age-related dementia. Along with a trained group of loving, giving, and capable volunteers, we experience the deep joy of creating a community where people living with memory loss are remembered for who they are, not for what they are no longer. Tim’s Place stimulates cognition, nurtures growth, and provides purpose and meaning for participants with memory challenges, as well as dedicated volunteers who serve as intentional companions. Participants have the opportunity to socialize with others while enjoying a variety of stimulating activities such as:
- Music and Dance
- Games
- Cognitive Exercise
- Physical Exercise
- Arts and Crafts
- Pet Therapy
When and Where?
Tim’s Place meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10a - 2p at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim (100 S. Blake Ave.)
Care for the caregivers
Many people are choosing to help their loved ones live at home for as long as possible, but caring for someone who is living with dementia can be challenging. Tim’s Place is designed to relieve the caregivers, and afford them free time so they can run errands, take care of business, or engage in self-care.
Enrollment
- Participants must be able to ambulate. The use of a cane, walker, or wheelchair are acceptable.
- Participants must be able to toilet independently. Absorbent briefs are acceptable.
- Participants must be able to eat independently.
- Participants must be able to engage and function cooperatively in group activities and discussions.
Caregiver’s Support Group
Tim’s Place caregiver support group meets once a month and offers caregivers a safe space for confidential discussion, listening, and education. Facilitated by Debby Smith, the support group meets the fourth Thursday of every month from 10:15am-12:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church. The group meets the same time as Tim’s Place, so their loved one will be cared for during that time. For more information, please contact Debby Smith at debssmith825@gmail.com.
Participant Fee
- $40 per day includes four hours of care and a nutritious lunch.
- Invoices are sent via email for the previous month.
- Payments are submitted by check, cash, or online.
- Scholarships are available to those in financial need. We do not turn anyone away.
We would love to host an initial visit for you. Due to confidentiality and participation limitations, we are unable to accept "drop ins". Please contact us to schedule an appointment.
